STEM

STEM I: Principles of Engineering

Students will become familiar with the workings of common devices such as cell phones, digital cameras, and technology-assisted cars. In this hands-on course, students will develop their engineering skills and learn about electronics, sensors, and programming.

STEM II: Applied Engineering

STEM II is a learning experience for students who wish to further explore the dynamic range of STEM fields introduced in STEM I. Building on the content and critical thinking frameworks of STEM I, this course asks students to apply the scientific inquiry and engineering design processes to a wide range of projects.

STEM III: Robotics

This course will go in depth, looking at a few advanced engineering concepts including robotics, iot (internet of things,) app development, and drones. We will compete in interschool robotics competitions organized by CIJE, and build on skills learned in STEM I and STEM II.

Photography

This course uses advanced digital cameras to teach basic skills to students who have an interest in photography but no prior experience. Using a combination of lecture, demonstration, and hands-on exercises, this course will explore the basic photographic techniques and artistic concerns involved in composing photographs. These include camera handling, composition, effective use of light, file management, digital image manipulation, and developing a photographic vision.

Graphic Design

This course explores the aspects of design used in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Students have an opportunity to express their creativity by learning to create logos, brochures, and the aspects of layout design.
