Math

Algebra I

This is the first course in the revised New York State Mathematics sequence which reflects the common core learning standards at the high school level. This course will assist students in developing processes and techniques they can apply to successfully solve problems in a variety of settings. The New York State Integrated Algebra Regents Exam will be administered in June.


Geometry

This is the second course in the revised New York State Mathematics sequence which reflects the Common Core Learning Standards at the high school level. Students will learn to make conjectures about geometric situations, and provide both formal and informal proofs that their conclusion follows logically from their hypothesis. The New York State Geometry Regents Exam will be administered in June.


Algebra II

This is the third course in the revised New York State Mathematics sequence which reflects the Common Core Learning Standards. Students will build on their work with linear, quadratic, and exponential functions, and extend their repertoire of functions to include polynomial, rational and radical functions. The Algebra 2 Common Core Regents exam will be administered in June.


Pre-Calculus

This course will focus on functions and their transformations including polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions. 


Consumer Math

Have you ever asked, “When will I need math in real life?” This course is designed to help students improve their math skills. Students will develop math skills needed for everyday life; an intelligent consumer in today's society will emerge from Consumer Math. Topics will include the mathematics of personal income, buying a car and related expenses, purchasing various types of insurance, housing, unit pricing, discounts and mark-ups, banking, budgeting, investments, taxes, travel and fitness.


AP Calculus AB

In this course, students study topics from analytic geometry and calculus. Students are required to take the Advanced Placement Examination in Calculus (AB level) in May.


AP Calculus BC

This course consists of a full academic year of calculus. Students are required to take the Advanced Placement Examination (BC level) in May. The AP exam will have both a BC score and an AB subscore.


SAT/ACT Math

SAT/ACT Math is a course designed to help students learn the best strategies, test-taking skills, and content and vocabulary needed to maximize their potential math scores on the ACT/SAT exams.The course uses the ACT review curriculum developed by The Princeton Review.

Topics include Pre-Algebra, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Plane Geometry and Trigonometry.

The goal of the course is that students develop the skill-set and processes used to solve ACT and SAT test questions comfortably. 

 

Money Matters
Money matters is a class that will take you on a financial literacy journey to set you on a path of financial success. It uses basic math skills in real life situations like shopping, calculating taxes, estimating monthly budgets, calculating interest rates for a loan, etc. Learning about saving, spending, and other aspects of "money math" will prepare you to make better financial decisions. When you buy a car, follow a recipe, or decorate your home you are using math principles. Money Matters is intended to prepare students for life, work, and further education. This course is designed to cultivate confidence and excitement about the skills needed to reach financial goals in the future.
